IYN Festival-an announcement from the IYN Directors and the Festival team.
After much deliberation we have decided not to run the IYN Festival in 2018. There are a number of reasons for this:
Primarily we would like to focus our energies on continuing our opposition to the National Occupational Standards and related initiatives being proposed by BWY and skillsactive- a vital issue in modern yoga. We are also aware that there is much more competition these days with yoga festival-type offerings and events throughout the year. Finally we do feel that the festival has run its course for us....it was great while it lasted and we don't rule out doing something similar again in the future but for now the festival is being shelved.
Because our commitment to networking (as the name of the organisation suggests!) and promoting open discussions amongst a diverse range of yoga practitioners, we are excited to announce that it's our intention to organise a 1 day conference in the Midlands next year-with the working title "The Future of Yoga". Please contact us -firstname.lastname@example.org you are interested in being involved in any way. Further details will follow.
If there are any specific questions or topics you would like to be covered by the conference, then please put your suggestions forward.
It is also our intention to organise regular IYN Regional Days throughout the year. If you would like to host one in your area, please get in touch. We already have a Regional day being planned by Rachel Williamson and Sarah O'Connor in Hitchen, Hertfordshire on Sat 3 February 2018. If you would like to teach , help out on the day or come along and share contact Rachel for details: email@example.com
There is also a Regional Day in Glasgow in May next year. (see what's on)
Thankyou to everyone who has contributed and supported the festival, we hope to see you at one of the other IYN events soon.
